My 10-Minute Workout and Why It Works!

I was a bit skeptical the first time I heard about this 10-minute workout, and had it not been from a very reliable and trustworthy source, I probably would have moved on. Yet, I was intrigued and for obvious reasons!
Desperate For A Solution!
In March of 2011, I had just had my second child and was desperate to figure out a way to get back in shape, especially under the time and money constraints I was currently experiencing. Little did I know I was about to find an exercise program that would become a game-changer for me.
In August, I went to a conference in D.C. where a young, vibrant couple came on stage to speak about their recent success in our company. But this success came after a series of devastating losses, challenging them to now make the most of every moment they spent together as a family.
As a result, they took their personal training skills and started an online fitness program called BURSTClub.com utilizing a type of training known as Short Burst Training (SBT).

BURST training is a mixture of cardio and resistance training that is designed to maximize the body’s response to exercise through these short, intense “bursts” of training.
Basically, you work out at maximum intensity for short snippets of time, instead of doing your typical low intensity, long duration (LILD) workouts that we all know so well (i.e. running on a treadmill for an hour).
When you BURST, your body uses up its carbohydrate or sugar stores for energy very quickly and then will spend the rest of the day storing sugar and burning off fat.
In contrast, when you work out at a low intensity for more than 20 minutes, your body will burn fat, BUT only for the time period that you workout. After you exercise, your body uses its sugar stores for energy and stores fat for the rest of the day! Sounds crazy, I know.

#1 You Will Only Need 10-20 Minutes
Sadly, finding time for exercise is a challenge for many people. Maybe you work full time and the crack of dawn is the only time you have, but let’s be realistic here. Who has the energy to get up that early in the morning?
By the time you get home from work, you’ve got to fix dinner, eat dinner, clean up , have time with the kids, and have time with your spouse. So, this leaves you time for a late night workout, but you’re so exhausted that going to the gym is the last thing you want to do!
Even if you stay at home, the story’s still the same, unless you’re lucky enough to have a gym with a reliable childcare program (and the money to pay for it!) For me, none of these options were a reality. I had to find another way!
#2 It’s Fast & Effective
So let’s say that you have found a time to squeeze in a workout. Is it effective and challenging? Are your results worth the time you’re spending away from your loved ones?
I don’t know about you, but I’m not going to waste my time on something that’s not going to produce the desired results! What’s the point?
Don’t get me wrong, if I have the time to be active, I will be. But most days it’s just not a reality! So, if I’m going to workout, it better be time efficient, and it better be effective.

This doesn’t need much explanation. We’re all trying to pinch pennies these days, and a gym membership falls under the “luxury” category in most people’s budget. So, that leaves you hitting the cold pavement once again.
Well, BURST training is something you can do anywhere with nothing more than your computer. You can find many sites online offering training videos and programs for next to nothing, if not free!
You don’t have to buy equipment, DVDs, or even gym clothes because you can do it from the comfort of your home, hotel room, or even the beach. Just have a few exercises “in your pocket” and you are good to go!
Ultimately, you will see results from this type of workout!
This program has revolutionized my approach to fitness and solved my “no time to exercise” problem. After hours of running and lifting and doing whatever it was I did, I was healthy and fit, sure, but I never saw results like what I’ve seen with BURST training.
Truly, if I had the time, I would still go out for a good run or hit the gym, but that’s just not my reality now, and it’s probably not yours.
